PM Trudeau on Canada Child Benefit and funding for research & online health services – May 3, 2020



In a news conference outside his home in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discusses the federal government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic, including a $300-per-child increase to the Canada Child Benefit for the month of May. The prime minister also announces $240.5 million in funding for virtual mental-health and primary care tools, $175 million to support Canadian company AbCellera’s COVID-19 antibodies research, and the formation of the COVID-19 Supply Council, which will provide the federal government with advice on the procurement of critical goods and services for Canada’s response to the coronavirus disease.
